In My Mailbox

Happy Weekend guys! It's been an interesting week in Andraville...so much going on, so much reading needing to be done! My computer is still on the fritz, so I still can't V-blog for the time being...which is okay because I'm sure y'all don't wanna see my hideous face rambling at you for however many minutes...So I was waiting in vain for my copy of Mara Dyer that I won this week...I kept hoping it was going to magically appear in the mailbox but *sigh* nope...maybe next week. In fact, I didn't get a single thing in snail mail! That's a first for quite a while. However, what I lacked in print books I definitely made up for in ebooks!

I got SO many ebooks this week! All of them were from authors/publicists looking for reviews, so I just added quite a few books to my "important" TBR pile which in turn shoves all the books from the library, that I bought, that I won, etc. a little bit further down the list *sighs again*...do you think I will ever get caught up?? Most of books I got were from the freaking fantastic Rhiannon Frater. Seriously guys. If you like paranormal, zombies, or all things awesomesauce...run out RIGHT NOW and buy Rhiannon's As the World Dies series. It is SO epically amazing. That being said, I was estatic to get these little babies. There is a book of short stories set in the ATWD universe, some other zombie books, and Rhiannon's aparrently fabulous Vampire Bride series. I've heard only good things about all of her books so I cannot wait to start reading!
So that's what was in my mailbox this week! What about you? Hopefully you guys got lots of goodies that you can really sink your teeth into before Halloween!

In My Mailbox

Hey loveys! It's Sunday again which means it's time to check out all the goodies I happened to get in my mailbox this week! This fabulous meme is brought to you by the equally fabulous Story Siren, and I hope you all enjoy getting a peek into my reads for the week!

For Review:
From Simon &Schuster, I got a copy of This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel and I got a copy of Bridger from the author Megan Curd.

This Dark Endeavor is a prequel of sorts for the much beloved classic, Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. It looks dark, gothic, creepy, and everything else that makes me happy in my inside places. I also really like the cover for some reason...it's understated and eerie without being too much. Can't wait to get started reading! Bridger is a really unique sounding paranormal/Greek myth type story that I am reviewing for a tour. Keep an eye out for it the first week of October!

I Won:
Alexander Death and Fairy Metal Thunder by J.L.Bryan
So if you have read my blog AT ALL in the last like...ever...you know that I am an incredible J.L. Bryan fan! I totally adore his Paranormals trilogy (of which Alexander death is the final book). I can't tell you how excited I was to find out that I got one of the first copies of AD! I literally screamed. I also was really excited to find Fairy Metal Thunder. Seriously, you have fairies, magic, metal, and a bad-ass guitar playing hero. It's a pure win! Speaking of winning...you can get your very own copy of Fairy Metal Thunder here on the blog! Click HERE to go to the giveaway link! Also look for my review tomorrow!

I won one more thing: The newest Lords of the Underworld book by Gena Showalter!
I won it in one of Karen (A.K.A. @teamsheltie)'s twitter giveaway's! She is an amazing blogger and runs For What It's Worth...which I am unashamed to admit that I stalk constantly. She is the QUEEN of twitter giveaways and she totally rocks my socks off.

Random:
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins!

Once again, I am found at a loss for why a book ended up at my door. I received the clue, Happy Reading <3 Morgan. Well Morgan, I am totally in love with you. I have been dying to get my hands on Lola, and I would love to thank you properly...please message me or tweet me telling me if you sent me this fantabulous copy and I will shout your praises from the hills.

So thanks to everyone who sent me books or had contests and giveaways and allowed me to get more awesome books! Have a great week everybody!

In My Mailbox: Greedy or Grateful?

Hey lovelies!

Sorry that I've been pretty MIA for the last week. I have had almost no time for bloggy-type things between working my last week and finishing up packing for my move, and there has been WAY too much to do. I can't keep track of all my books! I have freaking boxes of them just piled up...I won't be able to find anything for months. I am back at it though, and I won't be neglecting you for more than a day for a very long time. :) yay!

So I actually didn't find anything In My Mailbox this week. Despite my stalking the post-man religiously. I feel like he might be filing anti-stalking paperwork as we speak just because of the creepy way I watch him walk by my front porch without bringing me any awesome presents...I think I'm going to start making muffins for him or something so that he's more encouraged to bring me books. Though I did win a few contests around the blogosphere over the last week. I'm hoping next week will be ridiculous and I will be practically crying with joy over fantabulous bookish things.

This week, while doing my blog stalking and checking on a few publisher's websites, I found an interesting article where a publisher was quoted referring to In My Mailbox and similar posts. He claimed that bloggers who were "bragging" about the books they got during the week didn't deserve to get ARC's and etc because they were just gloating over getting free books. This publisher then went on to say that the majority of bloggers just blog to get books for free. When I read it, I was just like...WHAT??? Do publishers really think we're only in it for the books? Or that we're bragging when post about the books we've got?? I don't know about you guys, but I love stalking everyone and seeing what they got during the week and where they got it from. It's a way to shamelessly promote other blogs that you love, and I find so many cool and interesting books from IMM that I would have never heard about otherwise. I always include links to where I got the books from, whether it's another blog or an author's website. And as for me just blogging to get free books...do they know how much time it takes to read and review the books? And manage the site? And just...idk...comment and talk with other bloggers? I spend a good chunk of my time working my butt off to create reviews that are insightful, and to have great discussions with others. It wouldn't be worth it to just blog for the books. I love blogging and reading and everything, but if it was just about the free books, I would have gotten jaded and deleted the blog after a few weeks. I looked at IMM as a way to increase traffic to all the blogs and amazing authors that I love while finding great new books to read... But apparently, this is considered bragging and makes me look "snobby and greedy"...

What do you think? Is doing an In My Mailbox post a way of being greedy? Or grateful??

In My Mailbox

I got a pretty good haul this week! I got a few things for review  from publishers that I wasn't expecting at all. Then Borders had another round of sales so I went a little nuts...but I'm going to justify that because I really needed a treat. LOTS of drama went down this weekend and I needed to cheer myself up. When in doubt...or when crabby...buy books!

What was in your mailbox this week? Have you read any of these! I'm hoping they're amazing! I could use some really great reads after the blah-books I've tried to read this weekend...

In My Mailbox

I was so excited this week because I finally got some of the books I've been waiting for quite a while for. The main one being The Hunchback Assignments by Arthur Slade which I got from a giveaway on My Bookish Ways a few weeks ago :)
I read my first steampunk a while back and totally loved it, so I really wanted to read some more of it but didn't know where to begin...well...I guess I know now!
I also got a whole box full of Nicholas Sparks books from the Book Vixen's birthday giveaway!! I'm usually not a fan of romancey books, but come on...this is the guy that gave us the notebook...He knows his stuff...The Notebook is seriously the best movie I've ever spent hours crying over...and I heard the other books are just as good as the notebook if not better so I'm soooo excited to start reading.
This week, I got SOOO many books from Amazon...they were having that fantastic sale on e-books and I just couldn't seem to help myself... $.99-2.99 for fantastic books?? Who can resist that??? Apparently not me...I got WAY too many books...

It's Monday, What are you Reading? and In My Mailbox

In My Mailbox: Nothing...it is truly a rare occasion where I don't get ANYTHING during a whole week...maybe that Canadian Post strike is affecting me more than I thought...I will have to settle on getting my books from the library and diving into my TBR pile instead of salivating over shiny sparkly new book goodies...

It's Monday, What are you reading? is a weekly event hosted by Sheila at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books. The whole point of this meme is to list the books you completed last week, the books currently being read, and the books to be finished this week...As for me, I lump the last two into one caterogy...I always hope that the books I'm currently reading will be finished this week...

I was pretty dang productive this week. I wasted the first half of the week struggling to get into Chime by Frannie Billingsley, I was just kind of getting into it, when I decided that it was just not for me and gave up. I then managed to read four books in four days lol.

Counterfiet Magic by Kelley Armstrong
The House of Dead Maids by Claire B. Dunkle
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Steel by Carrie Vaughn

This week coming up, I have a tall order. My man is working nights, so I won't be distracted by all THAT fun stuff (tehe)...so I figured I would really crack down on my TBR pile. This pile happens to be huge at the moment due to my obsessive compulsive library habit where I can't seem to leave without at least ten books. Right now on my Library account I have 42 items out...yeah...I'm kind of a fail-boat lately...lol anyways, this week I hope to read:

The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
Sandry's Book by Tamora Pierce
Night Runner by Max Turner
Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsey Leavitt
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Need by Carrie Jones

Anyway, that is what came in the mail last week, and what I plan to read this week. How about you? Anything fabulous that I absolutely MUST go find NOW? That was definitely Anna and the French Kiss for me last week. If you haven't read it, do it now!

See ya,

~Andra~
