Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It was created because of their love of lists, and I myself love lists as well. Everyone is welcome to join in, and don't worry if you can't think of 10 - just do as many as you can. And of course, be sure to link back to TBATB (and leave me a link here too!) on your post!
This weeks topic is: The Top Ten Books I want to Re-Read.
I usually don't have time for re-reads. I'm too busy getting caught up on great series, reading books for publishers and authors, and finding debut authors to support. However, there are those rare moments when you've had a bad day, or are feeling a little down, or just need to get in a homey-type mood and you just need to have an easy read you pick up a comfort read. For me, comfort reads can be almost as relaxing as eating a big plate of mac and cheese or a cup of hot cocoa and taking a bath. All the better if I can read, eat, drink, and bathe all at once :) lol So here is my list of cozy reads. These are the ones I pull out on grey days, lazy days, or just chill out in a hammock with.
Pride and Prejudice
I don't know what it is about Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, but I can't get enough. The writing is a little tough to get into, but I've read it so much that I'm over it by now. The innocent flirtations, the gossipy mother, the balls and barn dances...there's so much calm that you can't help but re-read when stressed. It's timeless, sweet, and beautifully written. The perfect comfort book! The Bloody Jack Series
You all probably get tired of me raving about this series, but there is absolutely nothing I like more than re-reading the entire series. They are so good that no matter how many times I've read them, I always find something new to love about them. My favorite is the third book, Under the Jolly Roger, so I admit sometimes I'll cheat and start with that one, but I almost always have to read through the entire series once I read even one of them. Jackie, Higgins, Joseph Jared and the rest always keep me coming back for more. Harry Potter
Yeah, yeah...if you're sick of me talking about Bloody Jack, I bet you wanna kill me when I mention good old HP. To be honest, I lost count of how many times I've read the first 4 books. By the time I was in 5th grade, the count was up to 54...10 years and countless reads later...I don't think I even want to know how much time I've spent reading them. I actually read through my copy of Prisoner of Azkaban. The spine was worn clean through and the pages all fell out...and this is the hardcover...At least once a year I set aside a little time to let myself get lost in the magic of Harry Potter all over again. Twilight
Oh Twilight...I can't help but love you. It serves as my guilty pleasure re-read. I have to give in every once in awhile and give in to my Edward induced madness...fortunately this disease only extends to the first book. I love the series...but usually Twilight is enough to fill the need and then I can move on to something less shameful. It's not exactly ten..but I really don't re-read anything else. I might skim a book if I am reading a sequel and can't remember what happened. So what about you? What books do you love to visit again and again??
I have not read the Bloody Jack series, but after reading your rave I think I need to check them out.
ReplyDeleteVery cute blog! Did you make your header yourself? I am thinking about investing in one, because I don't know how to make them!

ReplyDeleteHey! Thank you for your comment on my Norwegian blog and thank you for complementing my taste :-) As you understand, English is no problem :-)
ReplyDeleteI can see that we like some of the same books and that also made me curious about the Bloddy Jack Series. I haven't read those and maybe I should.
Thanks for visiting my list!
ReplyDeleteI love hp and twilight and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
I've never read anything by Jane Austen, I haven't read a lot of classics at all to be honest, maybe next year I'll set myself a challenge to change that :)
I have been wanting to reread Twilight for so long! There are just to many books and to little time.
ReplyDeleteI AGREE ABOUT ALL OF THESE. Except Bloody Jack which I still need to read :)
