Review Tour: Dance with Me (+$10 GC Giveaway!)

Title: Dance with Me
Author: Judith Crow
Date Published: October 22nd, 2020
Format: Kindle
Genre: YA Fantasy

Synopsis:
Don’t tell anyone, but Kelli spends all her free time listening to folk music. Ok, it’s not what you’d expect from a popular fifteen-year-old, but that’s why she doesn’t want the whole world to know.

When Kelli follows the mysterious Tam Lane, she finds herself in a place where folk songs come to life. As she comes to terms with the world, she makes friends, uses her privilege to help others, and even falls in love.

But Kelli has forgotten the fates which await so many characters in the songs, and she soon finds herself surrounded by heartbreak. Determined to protect the people she has left, can Kelli change a fate which has been sung for centuries?
~My Thoughts~

So I have to tell you. I was THRILLED when I read the premise of this one. You may not know this about dear old Andra, but I am absolutely OBSESSED with folk music and traditional ballads, folk songs, and national ditties. I was that girl listening to the High Kings and Celtic Thunder to the disdain and confusion of many of my high school friends and enemies.

With my *ahem* expert experience, I was wondering how Dance With Me would measure up, and friends, it succeeded beyond my wildest dreams! I admit I had Youtube up on my phone for a lot of the time while reading so I could "set the scene" with all the different songs referenced and mentioned (as well as the songs listed on our Guest Post a few weeks ago!).

Judith has an excellent writing style. We get to slip seamlessly into Kelli's head and can touch and feel the same things she does. I found myself losing track of time because I was just enveloped in the story.

Kelli was a strong, thoughtful lead, and as with any great YA novel, Dance With Me has a lot of good coming of age aspects and we see Kelli grow and adapt in this strange new place she's found herself in.  This was a great, fun read that you'll want to have your favorite music player open and tuned to classic folk songs while reading so you can keep yourself in the spirit of things!

~Meet Judith!~
Judith was born in Orkney, grew up in Lincolnshire and now lives in the far north of Scotland. Her writing is inspired by the experiences of her life so far and she loves picking up on quirks and immortalising them in fiction.

Judith’s new book, Dance With Me, combines her love of folk music and creative writing, and finds her main character in a world where folk songs come to life. Her debut book, The Backwater, was a finalist in the Wishing Shelf Book Awards 2019.

When she isn’t writing, Judith is a primary school teacher who enjoys crafting and music, as well as being a generally doting spaniel owner.
Judith will be awarding a $10 Amazon or Barnes and Noble GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour!a Rafflecopter giveaway

    1. Hello!

Sorry for only just reading this!

I'm taking part in NaNoWriMo this month, so I'm trying to get my words done for my book about Sir Kaye, the foster-brother of King Arthur. At the moment, they are about to meet the Fisher King, which is a pivotal moment for the rest of the book.

      Thanks for a super question!
