Synopsis:
Tanner has always gotten wants from girls-whether it's the co-ed sitting next to him in class or the scantily dressed groupies that follow his band, Hudson Nash. There's only one woman immune to his charms, and that's his mother. Tired of Tanner's hard partying, she's waiting for him to grow up and settle down, preferably with a nice girl. When she refuses to finance his tour with the band, Tanner knows he'll have to find a way to change her mind.

Grace Roberts is not like most college girls. Shy and bookish, she prefers sneakers to stilettos and never quite mastered the art of taming her mane of unmanageable hair. Guys are not exactly throwing themselves at her, so when Tanner Reed, the hottest guy in school (scratch that, the hottest guy anywhere!) takes an interest in her, it seems too good to be true.

Bound by his deception and her girlish hopes, Tanner and Grace will be forced to question everything they believe about each other, and themselves. When these two get together, anything can happen and anyone can get hurt. Anyone can fall in love.

~Inspiration Behind The Book~
Anyone who writes a book – particularly a novel – is inevitably asked what their inspiration was. Of the many questions I have been asked as a first-time writer, the most common are concerned with how the story came to me, how I created the characters, and how I chose my setting. Like most writers, I was inspired in large part by the books I love – you know, the ones you can’t wait to get home and read? The ones that make you ignore a ringing phone or stay up hours past your bedtime, even if it means you’ll be tired for work the next day? For me, those books include the Twilight and Fifty Shades series, and much of their allure lay in the unattainable qualities of their male leads – Edward Cullen and Christian Grey.

I wanted my own book to have the same effect on readers; however, I also wanted its characters to be normal (or relatively so, compared with a billionaire and a vampire). That’s how Tanner Reed was born. Tanner is certainly that dreamy guy; he has always gotten what he wants from girls – whether it’s the co-ed sitting next to him in class or the scantily dressed groupies that follow his band, Hudson Nash. However, he is also in many ways a regular college student, cramming for finals and working a part-time job.

Another thing I wanted to do was create a male character that actively pursues the relationship. While Edward and Christian allow the girls to come to them, Tanner makes the first move with Grace, albeit for less than honorable reasons. I also wanted Grace, a shy yet attractive girl waiting to “bloom,” to feel like his attention was too good to be true. Since the story is told from both points of view, the reader sees Tanner and Grace forced to question everything they believe about each other, and themselves. When these two get together, anything can happen and anyone can get hurt. Anyone can fall in love.

~Try an Excerpt!~
As I watched Tanner play, I thought back to all the times I had been mesmerized by the mere sight of him--in class, at the gym. They seemed so insignificant now, compared with the pure intensity etched on his sweat-drenched face, the emotion in his voice as he belted out the song, the passion with which his fingers flew on the guitar. His sweat-soaked shirt clung tightly to his muscular body as he moved with the music. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. There was a fierceness in his eyes that became even more intense with each passing moment, and it was mesmerizing to watch. This was insane!

By the time he brought the song to a close the crowd was in a complete frenzy.  He looked up and out over all the people and then, with his guitar still strapped around him, he put his fists way up and pumped them once in the air before the lights cut out. Oh my God…my boyfriend’s a rock star?!

  6. Is there any real life experience that could serve as an inspiration for an upcoming book?

  7. Well Robert, the ideas I've been tossing around for any upcoming books are purely fiction, although when writing I think it's only natural to sometimes draw from your own personal experiences. So, lets just call it fiction with a dash of reality! Thanks for the question and for stopping by!

  11. I'm glad tennis is enjoyed, as it really helps our bodies physically and mentally. (I play competitive badminton five nights a week eight months of the year, and twice a week the remaining months. Some nights I make myself go out to play, and I ALWAYS feel better once I start to play.)

    1. Wow Laney! Badminton five nights a week is very impressive! I took up tennis about four years ago and absolutely love it. I play competitive team-tennis all summer and it's a great workout - and also a lot of fun! Thanks for stopping by!
