Title:A Shadow's Embrace
Synopsis:
Devyn James escaped hell once. Kidnapped from foster care at seven and raised in a psychic genetics testing facility, she survived by hiding her ability. A rare technopath, she eventually broke out of the facility with the help of the Shadow Elites—General Conver’s super soldiers, who rebelled and now fought to protect psychically enhanced humans. Determined to help the cause, she formed Indigo Order—a foundation focused on providing food, shelter, medicine, training and support for the displaced lower level psychics, especially the children tossed to the streets by Conver years ago.
For the past few months Devyn, or Indy as she’s known on the street, has covertly passed intel to the SEO. Even though the street doesn’t trust the Shadows, she does. They rescued her once and she knows they’re the only ones who will be able to save her from Conver and figure out what she uncovered.
Dagan is determined to save the female being chased by Conver and his squadron. He soon discovers her identity and vows he’ll do anything to keep her protected—even if it’s from herself. But the sultry female proves to be a handful when her team is in the crosshairs. When one of them is captured, he must prove she can trust him and all he offers, even though he may not believe someone as good as her should be with a Shadow.
Together they discover everything is possible when you trust A Shadow’s Embrace.

~Guest Post!~
Earlier
in the tour I gave you a glimpse into the Shadow Elite Operatives (or SEO)—the
hero’s covert psychic operatives group that fights to keep psychics safe—so I
thought it was time to turn the spotlight on The Indigo Order.
When
the heroine, Devyn St. James, was incarcerated in the testing facility, she had
a cluster of other psychics protecting her secret—she wasn’t the low level
psychic General Conver thought she was. She was actually a high functioning
technopath, a rare ability to manipulate anything electronic.
When
the Shadow Elites broke out and then freed lower level psychics in the other
facilities, Devyn vowed to make it up to everyone who helped her by helping as
many people as she could. The SEO have their hands full handling General Conver
and all the political agendas meant to undermine the newfound freedom of the
psychics.
When
Devyn looked around for the biggest need, it was somewhat obvious. One of the
most horrid things the general did was release the lower-level psychic children
(mostly teens by now) to fend for themselves on the streets of Chicago. These
kids have banded together in gang-like packs and live with a trust-no-one
mentality.
Devyn
founded Indigo Order, whose mission was to help these children by clothing,
feeding and sheltering them. More importantly, the group’s primary mission was
education—how to survive with your abilities. How to use the psychic powers.
Since many of these kids were never trained on how to use their unique skillsets,
their need to trust Devyn—or Indy (short for Indigo) as she’s known on the
street—gave her an in.
When
things hit the fan for Devyn in A Shadow’s Embrace and General Conver and his
men come after her, the street kids she’s spent the past four years helping
insist on helping her. Street looks out for street.
The
Indigo Order will experience a shift in structure soon as the series
progresses, but their objective will remain the same. I hope you enjoy Devyn
and organization as much as I did.

Devyn focused, suckling on the metadata drifting in the
atmosphere. Ah, she’d missed the city. The morsels of data streamed into her.
Her synapses hummed, sated by the calming presence of her third eye’s power.
For the first time in a week, she was whole again now that she was back in the
bustling psychic sector of Chicago. Leaving the city and her team a week ago
had been a difficult decision, but the right one. Her powers had become more
focused without the residual white noise of bustling Chicago’s technological
strain vying for her attention.
Now the same technology she’d shunned the past few days
would save her. She accessed traffic and bank cameras—anything and everything
that allowed eyes-on access to the enemy that was herding her into a proverbial
cage. There were too many of them. No exit strategy existed.
Damn.
A strong arm encircled her waist, crushing her against a
brick-like torso before she could react. Pain pierced her mind, radiating from
her temples. Startled by the psychic intrusion, she writhed in her captor’s
embrace and threw up what telepathic walls she could.
The bastard shattered each defensive layer she created. Hot
breath fanned across her cheek when he lifted her up off her feet and planted a
huge hand over her mouth. Dangling like a doll, she punched the meaty arms
holding her captive.
“Enough.” The harsh psychic hammer pounded her into
submission. She stilled, unable to maneuver past the thick mental fog he
created. “I need you to be quiet if you want to live.”
That voice. Dagan. This was the contact she’d slipped info
to at the SEO.
She clamped his wrist and pressed hard, but he maintained
his hold. The proximity to one of the most lethal people in existence skittered
apprehensive pangs along her spine. She’d chanced returning to Chicago because
of him, but how had he known she’d be here?

ReplyDelete"... Cara Carnes was a princess, a pirate, fashion model, actress, rock star and Jon Bon Jovi’s wife all before the age of 13." My, that's wonderful! I was a pirate, teacher, actress, singer, and Burt Reynold's wife by the age of 16! LOL.
