~~~My Thoughts~~~
Being an important member of one interracial couple :P , I am always very thrilled when I find a book about one. You'd be surprised by how few there actually are out there. Which is why I was so excited to pick up Freedom of Love!
A short story, this read is a quick shot of romance, energy, and drama dealing with love and race in a world that we might not want to look back on for fear of what we find. Of course, in the mid 1800's interracial marriages were looked down upon (if not downright illegal) so this is a tragic tale of star-crossed lovers, but it is also much more than that.
I absolutely adore Carr's writing style, as she has both a flair for the dramatic and a kind of sensual warmth in the romantic scenes that make you feel like a kitten with cream. Was that a weird analogy for a romance book? Oh well... Soleil is powerful, feminine, and beautiful, and her love interest, Alex is kind, strong and good. Pretty much everything you want in your two lead romance roles. I had a great time reading and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Carr's work in the future!
“You will not regret this.  I will make you the happiest woman that ever lived.”  He brought his lips to hers and kissed with the promise of what was to come. Pulling apart Alex lifted Soleil into his arms and stood rocking the tiny boat.
“Attendre! Wait!” Without heeding her protest Alex jumped over the side of the boat into the lake.  They surfaced laughing while Alex held Soleil securely in his arms.  Soleil pushed away and splashed water in his face.
“Who said that I wanted to be wet?”  Alex swam towards her only for Soleil to swim away.
“I thought it would be a great relief from this summer heat.”  Soleil lay back floating across the water looking up at the sky.
“A great relief it is.  But now my clothes are soaked through and I will not be able to go home like this.”  Alex swam up next to her and ran a hand from her legs all the way up her body resting it on her breast.
“Then let us go back to shore and take our clothes off.  So they can hang and dry of course.” Soleil saw the storm of desire in his eyes and was excited that he wanted her so badly.
“Yes, let us.”
~~~Meet G.S. Carr!~~~
 Raised in Charlotte NC, G.S. Carr has always enjoyed indulging in her imagination. At a very young age she had a thirst for reading and the many possibilities it helped come alive in her mind’s eye.  She consumed books like they were the air she needed to survive. It seemed inevitable that her love of reading would transcend into a desire to create her own stories.  She began writing poetry and stories at the age of 10.  By the time she was thirteen she found her passion in the romance genre and has not looked back ever since.
G.S. Carr will be awarding a $20 Amazon gift card, a swag pack with bookmarks, bracelets, key chains etc. related to Freedom of Love, and two paperback copies of her favorite romance novels, to a randomly drawn commenter between this tour AND the NBtM book tour.

  7. The biggest hurdle I had to overcome was moving from Germany to the USA. I had found a great job in Germany, an awesome place to live and wonderful friends.. and then I met my now husband of 12 years and it all went crazy .

  10. G.S....I'm also in NC, in Wilmington. I get to Charlotte several times a year.
    I had to overcome just a tad. My husband had already been twice divorced when we met. I was in my mid-20s and he was in his mid-30s. My parents did not really approve. That was more than 25 years ago!
