Interview & Giveaway with Bethany Ramos!

So today is the last day on my stop of the 5 Stages of Grief Tour *Sniff* It has been so much fun exploring the world of Chick Lit! For today's post, I have Bethany here on the blog to tell you all a little bit more about herself, her life, and her book. So please enjoy!
Hi Bethany! SO great to have you on the blog! So tell me a little about yourself! What got you into writing? How long have you been writing? What got you into writing? That sort of thing :)
Thank you very much for having me! I have been a freelance writer for three years, which is something that I decided to pursue kind of randomly. I was working as an aesthetician in the beauty industry and decided that I wanted to start beauty blogging, and it all spiraled from there. I wrote my first novel over a year ago.

That's great! So why Chick Lit? What draws you to the genre?
As a reader, I have always loved chick lit. And I'm also a fan of trashy reality TV. :-) So basically, I love anything that is fun, light, and witty.

Haha, so true. Every girl needs her trashy t-v/magazines/etc. So do you write about actual people and experiences that you've had or do you just make it up off the top of your head?
In 5 Stages of Grief, I definitely draw from actual people and real life experiences. If anyone who knows me has read the book, then they have probably recognized quite a few stories in the plot. But in my next book that I just finished,Adventure to Love, I wrote more about the characters that didn't come from real life.

Ha I'd like to meet the crazy people in your life then! So when you write, are you a plotster or a pantster?
Plotster! I work much better if I can nail down a basic plot outline in advance, even though it doesn't necessarily mean I have to stick to it.

So in 5 Stages of Grief,yYou write about some extraordinarily bad dates that Danielle has to go through. Any basis to those dates? What's the WORST date you've ever been on?
Oh, yes, all of those dates were semi-true! I have to say that the worst date I have ever been on was similar to the date with Ryan in the book, where my date kept asking me rehearsed questions, like if I preferred cats to dogs and how I like to unwind after a long day of work. Yikes!

Bleh...I can't imagine dating someone that boring! He had me snoring and I wasn't even on the date! lol..Sp do you have any online dating experience? If so, how did that go? Hopefully it worked out better than poor Danielle's dates did :)
I actually don't have online dating experience because I reconnected with my best friend from high school, who is now my husband, after a long, long string of bad dates. But I always say that if I weren't married, I would definitely go for online dating. I have seen quite a few friends happily find a good match online.

Aww! Well congrats for the two of you! Not to cause any trouble, but what would you do if YOU found out your dead husband had been cheating? Stalk the mistress? Dig up the cheater's body and throw it off a cliff? Drown your sorrows in wine or Tequila?
That's a great question! I would probably go more with drowning my sorrows in Bailey's, and then I'd obsess about it so much that I would be forced to stalk her!

Haha! Me too girl, me too...only I'd probably go for something stronger than Bailey's! Then get into trouble because sloshed me would probably get caught stalking her! Thanks so much for joining me and I really loved 5 Stages of Grief! I can't wait to read anything else of yours that comes my way!
Thank you very much, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I appreciate your review. :-)

  7. Bethany - do you have 'voices' in your head (your characters trying to get out) like some other authors I have heard from? That concept just fascinates me.
