My Book Boyfriend (15) Sven

Hey chicks! I know a few of you have actually already seen this post! I accidentally posted a book boyfriend last week while everyone took a week off...#facepalm! I didn't want you all to miss out on the awesomeness that is Sven so I kept him for another week...it's okay though...he's worth it!

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader. Its a chance to pay homage to the hotties that haunt the pages of the novels we love. The men who stay in our thoughts late at night, who plague us during our long hours at work, who cause us to stare off into the starry night and sigh, because we want them here with us. Yes ladies, its the Book Boyfriend.
~~~
I'm going unconventional this week with a book boyfriend I doubt you've ever seen. Why is this? Well, he's not exactly center stage in any of the novels he's featured in. He's not a fighter, or a lover, or anything really. In fact, in the three books that I've read that he's in, I doubt he shows up for more than 3 pages total. He's kind of a side figure that sneaks in and out of the main character's life. He's not even a romantic interest for the MC...hes actually dating one of her best friends and just shows up at random parties and things. So who is this random man of mystery who actually isn't that important?
Sven from Louise Rennison's Georgia Nicholson Series!
Why I like him:
  • He's foreign...if you don't know by now that I'm an Xenophile(a person who is attracted to foreign peoples, cultures, or customs )...Then sorry darling, you haven't been paying any attention at all...
  • He's not afraid to get DOWNNN (I said get down...not go down...get your minds out of the gutter...)!..Dancing is HAWT...I don't care if he's doing the Macarena or the Y-M-C-A...Any kind of dancing by a smexy boy and I immediately wanna start doing the horizontal tango...tehe.
  • He's awkward. I have no idea why, but I am totally obsessed with awkward people...Not so awkward that they like...bite my nose when I go in for a kiss or something...but awkward enough to say and do odd things that make me laugh. Judging from Sven's mad dancing, he's not only totally awkward, but hilarious too.
Best Sven Moments:
"It was going to be difficult to get past the bouncers without them catching even one of us for being under-age. I quietly said to Rosie, Jas, and Sven,"Be really really cool." That's when Sven lifted me up under one of his huge Swedish-type arms and shouted at the bouncers,"Gut evening, I have the bird in the hand and one in the bushes,thank you!" and strode in. I don't know whether they let us in because we looked mature or whether they were so amazed at Sven they didn't even notice us girls."
"Dave the Laugh has been dancing with me a lot. He's a cool dancer. He even did a bit of mad dancing with Sven. I don't think he expected Sven to pick him up and kiss him on both cheeks, but he took it well. Just dangled there while Sven did his thing, twirling around two feet off the ground."
Bahah! Ohhh Sven! I chose Chris Egan from Letters to Juliet to be my Sven. It was actually really hard to find a model for him because when I think of hot scandinavians, all I can picture is Alexander Skarsgard, but of course he will always be Eric Northman to me so I had to find another hottie. Chris works...though he is a little young...It was surprisingly difficult to find a really tall sexy swedish boy...go figure.
Sven proves that supporting characters can be just as fun and equally as important as the main characters. For me, a book usually falls flat without the well...support...of the supporting characters. Even if the main character is the most complex, interesting, and fabulous person ever...I still won't enjoy the book as much if the side characters don't pop as well. The supporting characters enrich the lives and personalities of the Main Character by being able to do what they can't, and I just love me some Sven for his mad dancing skillz.
  1. Aw, I love that you chose a supporting character! I agree, the secondary characters are really important. I haven't read this series but I really want to - I've seen the movie and love it.
    PS Can't believe you kinda knew DCriss way back when - sooo jealous!
  6. As far as secondary characters go, Sven sounds like a knock out! I needs to know more about those mad dancing skillz! And I guess because I'm an awkward person myself, I love awkward people too! And believe it or not, but I just watched letters to Juliet last night! Chris was so freaking swoon. That accent. *le yum*
  9. There's just something very sexy about the name Sven...not quite sure what it is...
    I am right there with you on the xenophile front. especially if a sexy accent is involved. ;)
